The theatre has three stages and a popular children's theatre. The Main Stage is a beautiful, classic auditorium that seats nearly 600 spectators. The Hippodrome is a newer and more flexible performance space with room for about 200 people. Finally, the Children's Stage is a venue where various children's theatre groups perform a wide range of shows aimed at children aged 3 to 8 years.

Folketeatret presents a variety of theatre, including contemporary drama, Danish premieres, classics in various genres, and international guest performances. Folketeatret's productions also go on tour, performing in up to 70 cities. In total, more than 230,000 people across the country see Folketeatret's performances, making it Denmark's largest dramatic theatre.
