The Cisterns is an old water reservoir from the 19th century, built to improve the water supply to the Capital. Its use as a drinking water reservoir ceased in 1933, and it was forgotten for many decades. Frederiksberg Museums took over the site in 2013 and transformed the underground spaces into an exhibition venue. Today, the Cisterns host both art exhibitions and various events, all based on the site's architecture and climate.
